MarketShare was started in 1984 in Troy, Michigan by Mike Gauthier
and his wife, Joeanne. The publication was called Marketplace Magazine, and
had a circulation of 80,000 in 1987. The coupons were taken out of the magazine
and circulated as a stand-alone product in 1987.
In 1991 the "King of Coupons" and MarketShare was born in the Detroit Metro area.
The
company expanded to serve
Chicago in 1996, and was distributed to 250,000 homes. Circulation grew over
the years to 1.2 million Chicago homes. In
January of 2003, Minneapolis/St. Paul was added, bringing the present circulation
to
3 million homes.
In March 2004, MarketShare savings magazine evolved into SAVE magazine. "SAVE
on Everything" broadens our scope - we're not just paper coupons anymore!
Television, Radio, Print, Internet - all forms of promotion become possible
for you.
March 2004 also brings SAVE on Dining to Metro Detroit. This
program will allow you to eat and save at 700 restaurants throughout the Metro
Detroit Area or find any restaurant in town you're looking for! SAVE
on Dining is also the dining guide for Detroit's #1 website in the area, ClickonDetroit.com.
